GTA 6 Side Activities Revealed So Far Include Basketball, Fishing, Diving and More

Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to give players plenty to do across Leonida outside of the main story missions. Rockstar Games has already shown several activities through its trailers, screenshots, and gameplay footage, giving players an early look at some of the things they can do when they are not following Jason and Lucia through the campaign.

The amount of optional content shown so far suggests that exploration will play an important role in GTA 6. Players have been seen fishing, swimming, scuba diving, kayaking, and using different types of watercraft. Hunting has also appeared, while the game’s wildlife and large number of animals could provide additional activities while exploring the map.

Sports will also have a place in GTA 6. Basketball has been shown in gameplay footage, while tennis and other recreational activities have appeared in promotional material. Players can also visit gyms and work out, continuing an idea Rockstar previously introduced in its games. Mini golf has also been spotted, giving players another option when they want to take a break from missions and driving.

Vehicle-based activities are expected to be another major part of the experience. Racing and dirt biking have been shown, while the game’s large road network and varied environments should provide plenty of opportunities for players to explore Leonida using different vehicles. Water activities also expand the options beyond traditional driving.

Several entertainment and social activities have also been spotted. Jason and Lucia can visit bars and clubs, while other footage has shown characters spending time in different recreational locations. Players have also seen activities such as watching television and interacting with elements of the game’s social-media system.

GTA 6 also appears to put more attention on wildlife than previous games. The trailers have shown a wide range of animals throughout Leonida, including scenes involving aquatic wildlife and other creatures. A zoo has also been shown, although Rockstar has not explained how deeply players will be able to interact with animals or whether every interaction will be part of a dedicated activity.

Based on everything shown so far, GTA 6 side activities include:

  • Fishing and hunting
  • Basketball and tennis
  • Mini golf
  • Swimming and scuba diving
  • Kayaking and other water activities
  • Jet skiing and fan boat rides
  • Racing and dirt biking
  • Gym workouts and weightlifting
  • MMA and fighting activities
  • Target shooting
  • Parachuting and other outdoor activities
  • Bars, clubs and other nightlife locations
  • Watching television and other entertainment
  • Wildlife and animal interactions
  • Zoo visits
  • Social-media interactions
  • Small-store robberies

It is worth noting that not every activity seen in trailers has been confirmed by Rockstar Games as a complete playable mini-game. Some could be environmental interactions or short sequences included as part of the game’s open-world design. Rockstar is also keeping many details about GTA 6’s side content under wraps, so the final list could change before launch.

The approach is similar to what players have come to expect from the Grand Theft Auto series, where the open world provides activities that can be enjoyed between story missions. GTA 6 appears to be expanding that formula with more sports, outdoor activities, wildlife encounters, and recreational locations.

  • GTA 6 features a wide range of activities outside the main campaign.
  • Fishing, basketball, diving, swimming and racing have been spotted.
  • Players can also explore gyms, mini golf, clubs and other recreational locations.
  • Wildlife and animal interactions appear to have a larger role in Leonida.
  • Some activities seen in promotional footage have yet to be confirmed as full mini-games.
  • GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar is expected to reveal more information about the game as development continues, including additional details about its open-world systems and activities.
