MINISFORUM has launched the M2 Slim mini PC, a compact desktop powered by Intel’s five-core Core 3 304 processor from the Wildcat Lake family. Priced at $399, the new Mini PC shares its processor and several specifications with the MINISFORUM M2 Air but introduces changes to its memory configuration, storage options, and connectivity.
The M2 Slim measures 112 × 112 × 37.15 mm and weighs 0.44 kg, making it suitable for compact desktop setups and office environments. Unlike the M2 Air, which uses a CSO-DIMM memory slot, the M2 Slim features onboard LPDDR5X-7467 memory. This removes the need for a separate memory module but also means users cannot upgrade the memory through a conventional SO-DIMM-style slot.
MINISFORUM has also added onboard UFS 3.1 flash storage support. However, the PCIe Gen4 M.2 SSD connection has been reduced from four PCIe lanes on the M2 Air to two lanes on the M2 Slim. This limits the maximum available PCIe bandwidth for a compatible SSD compared with a four-lane connection.
Connectivity includes one USB-C port supporting speeds of up to 40Gbps, two HDMI 2.0 ports, and a microSD card reader. The system also has two 2.5GbE RJ-45 Ethernet ports, which provide faster wired networking than standard Gigabit Ethernet and may be useful for home servers, network storage, and other networking applications.
Wireless connectivity is handled by an Intel AX211 network card supporting Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. Compared with the M2 Air, the M2 Slim also drops one full-featured USB-C 10Gbps port, leaving fewer USB-C connection options.
The MINISFORUM M2 Slim is priced at $399. Its compact dimensions, high-speed onboard memory, dual 2.5GbE ports, and 40Gbps USB-C connection make it an option for office productivity and networking tasks. Buyers should consider the non-upgradeable memory configuration and reduced PCIe lane count when comparing it with the M2 Air or other mini PCs in the same price range.
