Ubisoft Announces Release Date for Anno 117: Pax Romana, Launching November 13

Ubisoft has officially revealed the release date for Anno 117: Pax Romana, the next major entry in its long-running city-building and strategy franchise. The game is scheduled to launch on November 13, 2025, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna, and Windows PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft Connect.

Developed by Ubisoft Mainz, the team behind Anno 1800, this new title shifts the timeline from the industrial era to the height of the Roman Empire. Players will step into the role of a Roman governor appointed by the Emperor, tasked with expanding and managing key territories across the Empire.

The announcement was accompanied by a cinematic trailer that highlights the tone and ambition of the game. Featuring classical Roman statues breaking into song in a stylized showcase, the trailer sets the stage for a game focused not just on construction and trade, but also on legacy and political choices.

Set in the year 117 AD, Anno 117: Pax Romana introduces a broader scope than previous titles in the franchise. The game spans several biomes and cultures, from the core Roman provinces of Latium to the less developed frontiers like Albion. These regions will pose different challenges, such as navigating unfamiliar terrain, managing cultural differences, and responding to external threats.

The core gameplay will continue to focus on city-building, economic management, and strategic expansion, but with additional layers tailored to the Roman setting. Players can choose between peaceful development through trade and culture, or more assertive strategies involving military expansion and control. Political and ethical decisions will shape the governor’s reputation and determine how history remembers their rule.

Ubisoft Mainz has stated that the game will feature an enhanced version of the Anno engine, supporting more complex city layouts, detailed visual design, and advanced AI systems to simulate population behavior across diverse cultures. The development team also promises deeper narrative integration, with multiple outcomes based on player decisions.

Anno 117: Pax Romana is positioned as one of the most expansive historical strategy games focused on the Roman Empire. While it maintains the franchise’s core mechanics, the move into a classical era opens up new gameplay possibilities. The inclusion of multiple provinces, cultural integration, and moral decision-making could offer a fresh experience for both longtime fans of the series and newcomers.

The game is currently available to wishlist on major digital platforms, with more gameplay and system requirements expected to be revealed closer to launch.
