Subnautica 2 has reportedly leaked online ahead of its official Early Access launch, with unfinished builds of the game quickly spreading across piracy and file-sharing communities. The situation comes shortly after similar leaks involving Forza Horizon 6 and Resident Evil Requiem surfaced online in recent weeks.

Reports indicate that players were able to access an early development version of Subnautica 2 before launch, allowing some users to test limited portions of the survival title ahead of schedule. As expected with leaked builds, the version currently circulating online appears to be incomplete and missing several planned features.
Developer Unknown Worlds responded to the leak in a statement shared with IGN, confirming that unofficial versions of the game are being distributed online. The studio also warned players that the leaked build does not reflect the intended Early Access experience planned for release on May 14.
Unknown Worlds stated:
“We’ve identified that unofficial builds of Subnautica 2 are currently circulating online. These builds are incomplete development versions and do not reflect the content or gameplay experience being prepared for the official release. Files distributed through unofficial channels cannot be verified for safety or stability, and certain features or content may not function as intended. The complete Subnautica 2 Early Access experience, including multiplayer support, as well as all future patches and updates, will be delivered exclusively through official builds on our partner platforms.”
The developer’s statement highlights several concerns surrounding leaked game builds, particularly regarding stability, missing content, and potential security risks. Unofficial versions are often outdated internal builds that may contain unfinished assets, disabled systems, and bugs not present in the public release version.

Unknown Worlds also confirmed that multiplayer support, one of the major additions coming to Subnautica 2, will only function properly through official builds distributed via partner platforms. Future patches, updates, and new content will also remain exclusive to legitimate copies of the game.
Interest in Subnautica 2 has continued to grow since its reveal, especially among fans of the original Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero. The upcoming title expands on the underwater survival formula while introducing cooperative multiplayer gameplay in the series.

Despite the leak, the official Early Access release is still expected to proceed as planned. Unknown Worlds appears focused on ensuring that players experience the game through official channels, where they will receive the complete feature set along with ongoing support and updates throughout the Early Access period.
