NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 SE Reportedly in Development With 32GB GDDR7 and 14,080 CUDA Cores

NVIDIA could soon expand its Blackwell graphics card lineup with the GeForce RTX 5090 SE, according to a new report from GameGPU. The upcoming model is expected to sit between the GeForce RTX 5080 and the flagship RTX 5090, giving enthusiasts another option in the high-end GPU segment. Unlike the RTX 5090D and RTX 5090D V2, which were introduced to meet regional export requirements, the RTX 5090 SE is reportedly being developed as a standard consumer gaming graphics card for the global market.

The report claims that the RTX 5090 SE will use the same GB202 GPU as the RTX 5090 but with a reduced hardware configuration. NVIDIA is said to enable 110 of the 192 Streaming Multiprocessors available on the chip, bringing the total CUDA core count to 14,080. The graphics card is also expected to include 110 RT cores, 440 Tensor cores, and 440 Texture Mapping Units. While the exact Render Output Unit (ROP) count has not been confirmed, it is expected to be around 144.

The RTX 5090 SE is expected to feature 32GB of GDDR7 memory despite using a narrower 384-bit memory interface than the RTX 5090. According to the report, NVIDIA will achieve this capacity by combining 24Gb and 16Gb memory chips, allowing the graphics card to maintain a 32GB memory buffer without relying on the full memory bus of the flagship model.

The GPU is also expected to have a lower Total Graphics Power compared to the RTX 5090. While the flagship carries a 575W TGP, the RTX 5090 SE is rumored to operate at around 500W. Although it remains a high-power graphics card, the reduction could help improve cooling and power efficiency compared to its bigger sibling.

According to the leak, NVIDIA is targeting a launch MSRP of $1,500, positioning the RTX 5090 SE between the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 in terms of pricing. However, as seen with previous flagship GPU launches, retail prices could end up higher depending on availability and market demand.

Rumored NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 SE specifications:

  • GB202 Blackwell GPU
  • 110 Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs) enabled
  • 14,080 CUDA cores
  • 110 RT cores
  • 440 Tensor cores
  • 440 TMUs
  • Around 144 ROPs (rumored)
  • 32GB GDDR7 memory
  • 384-bit memory interface
  • Mixed 24Gb and 16Gb GDDR7 memory chips
  • Approximately 500W Total Graphics Power (TGP)
  • Rumored MSRP of $1,500

NVIDIA has not officially confirmed the existence of the GeForce RTX 5090 SE, so the reported specifications and pricing should be treated as rumors for now. If the information proves accurate, the RTX 5090 SE could offer a balance between the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 by combining a large 32GB memory capacity with a reduced GB202 configuration, making it an attractive option for gamers, content creators, and users running memory-intensive workloads. More details are expected to emerge as NVIDIA prepares its next wave of Blackwell graphics cards.
