GPD Box Mini PC Launches on Indiegogo with Intel Core Ultra CPUs and MCIO eGPU Support

GPD has launched its new GPD Box mini PC on Indiegogo, bringing a compact desktop system built around Intel Core Ultra processors and a high-speed external GPU connection. The new mini PC is designed for users who want a small system for work, gaming, and creative tasks while keeping the option to add more graphics power later.

The GPD Box starts at HK$11,377 (around $1,452) for the base model. This version comes with an Intel Core Ultra 7 356H processor, 32 GB of LPDDR5-8533 RAM, and a 1 TB M.2 2280 NVMe SSD. GPD is also offering a higher-end model with the Intel Core Ultra X7 358H processor, priced at HK$12,020 (around $1,534).

The main difference between the two versions is the integrated graphics performance. The Core Ultra X7 358H features Intel’s more capable Arc B390 GPU, while the Core Ultra 7 356H model uses a lower-tier Arc graphics solution. However, the X7 358H version does not include the MCIO interface, which means users will need to rely on USB4 when connecting an external graphics card.

The GPD Box measures only 175 × 134 × 39.5 mm, making it suitable for compact desk setups. Despite the small size, the mini PC includes a wide range of connectivity options and supports external GPU expansion through the MCIO 8i port.

Key specifications and features include:

  • Intel Core Ultra 7 356H or Core Ultra X7 358H processor options
  • 32 GB LPDDR5-8533 memory
  • 1 TB M.2 2280 NVMe SSD storage
  • MCIO 8i port for high-bandwidth eGPU support
  • Up to 512 Gbps bidirectional MCIO bandwidth
  • Dual 2.5GbE LAN ports with link aggregation support
  • Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity
  • USB4 V2 Type-C support
  • DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 and HDMI 2.1 FRL output

GPD is also launching the G2 MCIO eGPU Dock for users who need dedicated graphics performance. The dock bundle starts at HK$14,394 (around $1,837) with the Core Ultra 7 356H version and increases to HK$15,036 (around $1,919) with the Core Ultra X7 358H model.

The G2 Dock includes an 800W ATX 3.1 power supply and two GPU power cables, but users will need to install their own graphics card. The dock can also be purchased separately, starting at $385.

For connectivity, the front panel includes two USB4 V2 Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The rear panel adds DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, dual 2.5GbE ports, additional USB ports, and the MCIO 8i connection.

With its compact design, Intel Core Ultra hardware, and external GPU support, the GPD Box targets users who need a small desktop system without giving up expansion options.
