Japanese PC accessory manufacturer ELECOM has introduced the latest generation of its EGG MOUSE as part of the company’s 40th anniversary celebrations. Founded in May 1986, ELECOM is marking four decades in the industry by bringing back one of its most recognizable products with updated wireless features while keeping the original egg-shaped design that made it different from conventional computer mice.

The EGG MOUSE first debuted in 1988, at a time when most computer mice featured square or rectangular shapes. ELECOM designed the mouse with a rounded body to provide a more natural grip for everyday use. Since then, the product has returned twice as limited anniversary editions, first for the company’s 20th anniversary in 2008 and again for its 30th anniversary in 2016. The new version continues that tradition while introducing hardware suited for modern PCs and mobile devices.
The latest EGG MOUSE weighs just 40 grams, making it easy to carry in a laptop bag or backpack. ELECOM has also included two washable silicone covers with every unit, giving users a choice of colors while helping keep the mouse clean during daily use. The rounded design remains the main feature of the product, offering a compact form factor intended for long periods of office work and general computing.

For connectivity, the mouse uses Bluetooth and supports pairing with up to three devices. Users can switch between compatible laptops, desktops, and tablets without repeating the pairing process. The mouse is equipped with a 1000 DPI optical sensor, four silent buttons, and a silent scroll wheel, making it suitable for quiet workplaces, libraries, classrooms, and home offices.
Power is supplied by a single AAA battery, with ELECOM estimating approximately one year of battery life under normal usage. The company continues to focus on portability and battery efficiency instead of adding high-end gaming features, positioning the EGG MOUSE as a lightweight wireless accessory for everyday productivity.
