Bloober Team Announces Fall 2025 Release Window for Cronos: The New Dawn

During the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, Polish studio Bloober Team unveiled a Fall 2025 release window for its upcoming sci-fi survival horror title, Cronos: The New Dawn. The game will launch on PC via Steam and Epic Games StorePlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. Players can already wishlist the game on all supported platforms.

Best known for titles such as The Medium, Observer, and the upcoming Silent Hill 2 Remake, Bloober Team is venturing into new territory with Cronos: The New Dawn, its first original IP in the sci-fi survival horror space. Alongside the release window announcement, a new trailer was showcased, offering a deeper look at the game’s world, its enemies, and core gameplay mechanics.

The trailer introduces the “Orphans,” hostile creatures described as distorted manifestations of fear and trauma. These enemies are not only fast and aggressive, but they also possess a dangerous ability—if not dealt with properly, they can merge with other fallen enemies, forming stronger and more dangerous variants. To prevent this, players must burn defeated foes immediately, adding a layer of urgency to the already tense survival mechanics.

The trailer also hints at narrative elements, including cryptic messages from a previous traveler referred to as ND 3500. Through their travel logs, players will piece together fragments of the game’s backstory. The game’s world is set in a post-apocalyptic environment inspired by Nowa Huta, a district in Kraków, Poland. The level design features twisted Brutalist architecture altered by supernatural anomalies, setting the tone for a bleak and haunting atmosphere.

In terms of gameplay, Cronos: The New Dawn draws inspiration from well-known survival horror and action titles. Bloober Team has cited Resident Evil and Dead Space as influences for the combat system, while Dark Souls served as a reference point for its difficulty and encounter design. The story and setting also take cues from science fiction and psychological thrillers such as 12 Monkeys, The Thing, and the German series Dark.

Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game aims to deliver detailed visuals and complex environmental effects. The official PC system requirements have already been made public, and based on the specifications, the game appears to be reasonably accessible to mid-range systems.

Cronos: The New Dawn marks a notable step forward for Bloober Team as it expands beyond psychological horror into a broader science fiction narrative with deeper combat and survival mechanics. More details, including a specific release date, are expected in the coming months as the Fall 2025 window approaches.
