8BitDo has expanded its Retro R8 lineup with a new C64 Edition mouse, inspired by the classic Commodore 64. The design continues the series’ blend of retro style with modern performance.
The C64 Edition features a PAW 3395 optical sensor with six DPI levels from 50 to 26,000, offering precision for different gaming scenarios. Polling rates reach up to 8,000 Hz over wired USB and 4,000 Hz on 2.4G wireless, while Bluetooth connections are limited to 125 Hz. Its symmetrical layout supports both left- and right-handed users, and four side buttons can be customized through 8BitDo’s Ultimate Software. The switch type for this edition has not been confirmed, though the NES-inspired N Edition uses Kailh Sword GM X micro switches.
The mouse includes a charging dock that doubles as a wireless signal extender. Battery life ranges from 26 to 105 hours on 2.4G wireless, depending on the polling rate, and up to 100 hours over Bluetooth. A full charge takes about 2.5 hours.
All three connection modes are supported: Bluetooth LE 5.3, 2.4G wireless, and wired USB, allowing the mouse to work across various setups, from laptops to desktop gaming rigs.
The Retro R8 C64 Edition is priced at $49.99, matching the NES-inspired N Edition. It offers a combination of retro design and modern features for fans of classic gaming and functional gaming peripherals.
