WLMouse is taking its lightweight gaming mouse lineup into a new generation with the Beast X2, a flagship wireless model developed in collaboration with League of Legends esports player TheShy. The company has confirmed several major hardware upgrades ahead of the mouse’s October 8 launch, including an updated 3955-based sensor, 8,000 Hz polling in both wired and wireless modes, optical main switches, and a new receiver with a built-in touchscreen.
The Beast X2 follows the same lightweight magnesium construction philosophy as the original Beast X, but WLMouse is changing several aspects of the design. Depending on the size selected, the new mouse will weigh between 41 g and 48 g, while four color options are planned. The weight figures also suggest that WLMouse is not carrying over the interchangeable side design seen on some versions of the first-generation Beast X. Instead, the Beast X2 appears to use solid side panels with a perforated top shell.
The company is offering multiple sizes, which should give players more flexibility when choosing a shape that fits their hand and grip style. The overall profile remains familiar, with WLMouse stating that the Beast X2 retains the shape used by the original model, which takes inspiration from the profile of the Razer Viper V4 Pro.
Inside, the Beast X2 gets a customized PixArt PAW 3955 HS sensor, described by WLMouse as its own customized implementation of the PAW 3955. The sensor is paired with a Nordic 54LM20 MCU, forming the core of the mouse’s wireless and tracking system.


WLMouse is also using Omron optical switches for the primary buttons. This is worth noting because some of the latest high-end gaming mice have moved toward Hall-effect or analog input systems. The Beast X2 instead sticks with optical click switches, which can avoid the debounce limitations associated with traditional mechanical switches while maintaining the familiar click-based input system.
The scroll wheel has also been upgraded with a Raesha optical encoder. Optical encoders eliminate the physical contact mechanism found in conventional mechanical encoders, potentially improving longevity and reducing the chance of encoder-related scrolling problems over extended use.


For competitive players, the Beast X2’s 8,000 Hz polling rate will be available through both its wired and wireless connections. At 8K polling, the mouse can report its position to the computer up to 8,000 times per second, although the practical benefit depends on the game, display refresh rate, system performance, and overall setup.
The biggest change may be sitting outside the mouse itself. WLMouse is upgrading the wireless receiver with a built-in touchscreen, following a feature that has started appearing on other premium gaming mouse receivers in 2026.

WLMouse has not yet detailed everything the touchscreen will do, but the receiver shown in the teaser appears to follow a similar concept to the receiver used with the Huan M. This could allow users to access some settings and customization options directly from the receiver instead of relying entirely on the company’s Hub web-based driver.
For now, WLMouse has not revealed the price of the Beast X2. The company has confirmed that the mouse will officially launch on October 8, with additional information about the different sizes, colors, touchscreen receiver, and availability expected before release.
