REDMAGIC has unveiled a new 5K MiniLED Gaming Monitor with a native refresh rate of 180Hz and a dual-mode option that increases the refresh rate to 330Hz at 2K resolution. Announced during the company’s REDMAGIC 12 Pro+ smartphone launch event in China, the display features 5,184 local dimming zones, a claimed peak HDR brightness of 1,400 nits, and an all-aluminum chassis. The monitor is scheduled to launch in China in December 2026, with an official price of 6,499 yuan, equivalent to approximately $970.
The monitor’s dual-mode functionality allows users to choose between image detail and refresh rate depending on the game. At 5K resolution, the panel supports up to 180Hz, while switching to 2K enables a maximum refresh rate of 330Hz. The higher-resolution mode suits visually detailed games, while the faster setting targets competitive titles where rapid screen updates can deliver smoother motion. Actual performance will depend on the game, graphics hardware, and display settings.

REDMAGIC is also highlighting the monitor’s MiniLED backlight, which divides the screen into 5,184 independently controlled dimming zones. This lets different areas of the display adjust brightness independently, improving contrast between bright highlights and darker scenes. The company claims peak HDR brightness of 1,400 nits and typical color gamut coverage of 95%, although its announcement does not clearly identify the exact BT color standard. These figures have not yet been independently tested.
To improve motion clarity, REDMAGIC has introduced what it describes as its “exclusive” progressive backlight-scanning technology. The feature is designed to reduce motion blur and image persistence during fast-moving scenes. The monitor also features a slim all-aluminum body, a flat rear panel, a smoked-black finish, and a transparent gaming window. REDMAGIC has not yet disclosed the screen size, response time, detailed connectivity options, or availability outside China.

The company previously released the GM001S, a 27-inch 4K MiniLED gaming monitor with a 160Hz refresh rate and 5,088 dimming zones in 2023. The new model increases the zone count by 96, or approximately 1.9%, while moving to 5K resolution and adding a 330Hz mode. The older monitor was advertised with peak brightness of up to 2,200 nits, meaning the new model’s claimed 1,400-nit HDR brightness is lower on paper. Independent testing will be needed to compare their actual HDR performance.
REDMAGIC plans to release its new 5K MiniLED gaming monitor in China in December 2026 for 6,499 yuan. The company has not announced international pricing or a global release date, so availability in other markets remains unconfirmed.
