Kiwi Ears Launches Stardust Hybrid IEM With 10mm Dynamic Driver and 4BA Setup

Kiwi Ears is expanding its IEM lineup with a new hybrid model that brings a five-driver configuration to the sub-$80 price range. The Kiwi Ears Stardust combines a custom 10mm dynamic driver with four balanced armature drivers and is now available for $76.99. For buyers looking for a wired IEM with separate drivers handling different parts of the frequency range, the Stardust enters a crowded segment with a specification sheet aimed at both music listeners and gamers.

The new Kiwi Ears Stardust uses a 1DD+4BA hybrid configuration. Its custom 10mm dynamic driver uses a PU+LCP composite diaphragm and handles the low-end and lower-midrange frequencies, while the four balanced armature drivers are used for the remaining frequency range.

Kiwi Ears says the Stardust has been tuned for a natural and balanced sound. Rather than heavily boosting one part of the frequency range, the company has focused on controlled bass, a warm-neutral midrange, and smooth treble performance. The sub-bass receives an approximately 8dB boost, according to the company, which is intended to add impact without overwhelming vocals and other details.

This tuning could also make the Stardust an interesting option for users who switch between music, movies, and gaming. A balanced midrange can help keep dialogue and vocals clear, while controlled low frequencies are useful for games where excessive bass can cover smaller audio details.

The physical design combines a lightweight resin polymer shell with an anodized aluminum faceplate. Kiwi Ears says the IEMs are individually assembled, measured, and paired during production. The Stardust also uses a detachable two-pin cable, allowing users to replace the cable or select a version that better suits their device.

Buyers can choose between a standard 3.5mm connection, a 3.5mm cable with an integrated microphone, or a USB Type-C version with a microphone. The Type-C option could be particularly useful for newer smartphones and tablets that no longer include a dedicated headphone jack.

  • 10mm dynamic driver with PU+LCP composite diaphragm
  • Four balanced armature drivers
  • 1DD+4BA hybrid driver configuration
  • 20Hz to 40kHz frequency response
  • 107±3dB sensitivity
  • 13Ω impedance
  • Channel balance of < 1.5 dB
  • Rated power of 5mW
  • Detachable 2-pin cable
  • 1.2-meter cable length
  • 3.5mm, 3.5mm with microphone, and USB Type-C with microphone options

At $76.99, the Kiwi Ears Stardust is positioned in the competitive budget-to-mid-range hybrid IEM market, where driver count alone does not guarantee better audio quality. Its combination of a 10mm dynamic driver, four balanced armatures, low 13Ω impedance, and multiple cable options gives it a broad compatibility range on paper.

The Stardust is now available through Kiwi Ears and selected retailers. For listeners looking for a hybrid IEM under $80 with a focus on balanced tuning, the latest model adds another option to the growing Kiwi Ears lineup.
