Early AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D Benchmarks Reveal Performance Ahead of CES Launch

AMD’s Ryzen 7 9850X3D has been generating attention in recent weeks, with several leaks and shipping details hinting at an upcoming CPU launch. Information suggests that finalized units may be introduced at the CES trade show next month, a platform often used to showcase new and refreshed hardware.

Ahead of the anticipated release, motherboard partners have begun testing the 8-core processor. Geekbench Browser entries recorded in mid-November, and later discovered by Gray/Olrak29, show the processor running on Maxsun’s MS-eSport B850ITX and Colorful’s CVN B850M GAMING FROZEN V14A motherboards. These early tests provide insight into performance levels and system behavior under near-final conditions.

The Geekbench 6.3 results, conducted on Windows 11 64-bit, indicate performance in the same range as the existing Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Multicore scores were somewhat lower than expected, a difference attributed to memory speeds. Both test rigs had 32 GB of RAM, but sub-4800 MT/s transfer rates were recorded. Additional factors that may have influenced performance include early firmware versions and cautious power management settings.

Clock speed behavior differed between the two motherboards. The Colorful-based system achieved a peak core frequency of 5602 MHz, while the Maxsun board reached 5385 MHz. Both sets of results confirm the processor specifications: 8 cores, 16 threads, a 4.70 GHz base clock, and 96 MB of L3 cache. Both entries are identified as “Authentic AMD Family 26 Model 68 Stepping 0” units, placing them in AMD’s Granite Ridge processor generation.

These benchmark leaks provide an early look at what could be AMD’s next 8-core gaming CPU. While performance is comparable to current offerings, the testing highlights the impact of memory configuration and firmware optimization on real-world results.

With CES approaching, more detailed performance tests and official announcements are expected. AMD’s demonstration of the Ryzen 7 9850X3D will likely include additional data on clock behavior, power efficiency, and gaming performance. This release could further strengthen AMD’s presence in the high-performance desktop market, following the success of previous 3D V-Cache models.

For consumers and enthusiasts, early benchmarks indicate that the Ryzen 7 9850X3D may offer incremental improvements in multi-threaded workloads while maintaining strong single-core performance. Official release and broader testing at CES will provide a complete picture of how the processor performs across various applications.
