CD Projekt Red has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 now supports AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4) through the latest game update. The addition of FSR 4 marks a significant technical upgrade for the title, replacing the earlier FSR 2.2 implementation. Players looking to use this new feature will need to update to AMD Adrenalin Edition 25.8.1 WHQL drivers or later, as the patch is designed to work in tandem with the latest driver optimizations.
FSR 4 introduces a machine learning–based upscaling framework that enhances overall image reconstruction. Unlike the older shader-based system used in FSR 2.2, the new method leverages advanced models to deliver sharper edges, improved detail in complex scenes, and more stable visuals across performance presets. This enhancement is aimed at balancing visual fidelity with smoother gameplay performance, a crucial factor for a demanding open-world title like Cyberpunk 2077.
At present, FSR 4 support is exclusive to AMD’s newest Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards built on the RDNA 4 architecture. These GPUs are currently the only hardware with the necessary capabilities to run FSR 4. While AMD has not confirmed broader compatibility for older Radeon models or competing platforms, the update positions the RX 9000 lineup as the main beneficiary of the new technology.
The addition of FSR 4 places Cyberpunk 2077 in line with the latest graphics innovations in the PC gaming industry. With NVIDIA’s DLSS already widely used and Intel’s XeSS continuing to gain traction, AMD’s latest offering ensures players with RDNA 4 hardware can enjoy competitive image quality and performance scaling. This move highlights the growing importance of upscaling technologies as a standard feature in modern game releases, particularly for titles that demand significant hardware resources.
