CHERRY XTRFY has introduced the M42V2 gaming mouse at Gamescom 2026, updating its familiar M42 design with a lighter 45g chassis and interchangeable back shells. The new Gaming Mouse targets players looking for a lightweight wired gaming mouse while keeping the modular shape that helped define the original M42 series.
The M42V2 features a symmetrical body and ships with two interchangeable back shells, allowing users to change the rear profile without using screws or additional tools. This gives players some flexibility when choosing between claw, fingertip, and other grip preferences. Unlike many ultra-lightweight mice, the M42V2 uses a solid-shell design rather than relying on large perforations across the body.
Under the shell, the M42V2 uses the PixArt 3327 optical sensor, supporting sensitivity settings between 400 and 6,200 CPI, alongside a maximum polling rate of 1,000Hz. The mouse also uses Huano Transparent Blue Shell Pink Dot switches, rated for up to 80 million clicks.
CHERRY XTRFY is continuing with a software-free configuration approach. Players can adjust settings such as CPI, polling rate, lift-off distance, and debounce time directly through the mouse, with LED indicators used to show the active configuration. This removes the need to install companion software for basic performance adjustments.
The mouse also includes UHMW-PE feet designed to reduce friction during movement, while the matte UV-coated surface is intended to provide a consistent grip. At 45g, the M42V2 sits among the lighter wired gaming mice currently available, although its sensor specifications place it below many newer models using PixArt’s latest high-end sensors.
