CHERRY has announced the MX 8.3 Pro mechanical keyboard, adding a new tenkeyless option to its lineup with updated hardware and a focus on both gaming and everyday use. The keyboard features an orange and black color finish and introduces the company’s MX Lumina Brown switches, designed to deliver a balanced tactile response without heavy noise levels.

The MX 8.3 Pro keeps the familiar 80% TKL layout, which removes the numpad while retaining dedicated function and navigation keys. This layout continues to be popular among users looking to save desk space without sacrificing usability. In terms of performance, the keyboard supports an 8,000 Hz polling rate when connected via USB-C, while the 2.4 GHz wireless mode operates at up to 4,000 Hz. Tri-mode connectivity is included, allowing switching between wired, low-latency wireless, and Bluetooth connections for multiple devices.

Battery life is another area where the MX 8.3 Pro aims to deliver long usage times. It comes with a built-in 5000mAh battery, with a CHERRY rating of up to 1,400 hours depending on usage conditions and lighting settings. The keyboard also supports SOCD (Simultaneous Opposite Cardinal Directions), a feature often used in competitive gaming scenarios where accurate directional input is required.
From a build perspective, the MX 8.3 Pro uses a CNC-machined aluminum chassis, giving it a rigid structure and added durability. A full-color LCD control screen is integrated into the keyboard, offering access to settings and system information. On the front edge, an X-shaped multifunction knob provides quick adjustments for volume, lighting, and other controls.

Internally, the keyboard adopts a gasket-mounted structure, a design commonly used to improve typing comfort and reduce vibration. The internal layers include an FR4 gold-plated positioning plate, Poron foam, IXPE switch pads, PET sound layers, and additional bottom foam for acoustic tuning. The PCB is hot-swappable, allowing users to change switches without soldering.
The MX 8.3 Pro is equipped with double-shot PBT keycaps featuring a micro-frosted texture, aimed at long-term durability and resistance to shine from extended use.
Pricing and availability details have not been confirmed yet, but the MX 8.3 Pro is expected to target users looking for a compact mechanical keyboard with modern features and flexible connectivity options.
