Recent speculation surrounding AMD‘s purported development of a Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card featuring 32GB of VRAM has been dismissed by the company. The rumors, which originated from a leaker on the Chiphell forum, suggested that AMD was preparing a high-capacity variant of the GPU intended for gaming rather than professional workloads. However, AMD’s Frank Azor has publicly denied these claims.
No, the 9070 XT card is not coming in 32 GB capacity. https://t.co/SSKCrqSN7S

In response to a post by TechPowerUp on the social media platform X, Azor confirmed that there are no plans for a 32GB version of the RX 9070 XT. The standard Radeon RX 9070 XT will be equipped with 16GB of GDDR6 memory, aligning with AMD’s approach to balancing memory capacity with GPU performance. While some speculation suggested that the additional memory would target AI-related applications, AMD has not positioned the RX 9070 XT for such workloads.
Historically, AMD has not released a gaming-focused graphics card with 32GB of VRAM, and the likelihood of introducing such a configuration in the RX 9000 series appears low. Given that the RX 9070 XT is expected to be the flagship model utilizing the Navi 48 GPU, it is improbable that any higher VRAM configuration will be introduced within this generation. Lower-tier models, including the standard RX 9070 and Navi 44-based GPUs, will feature reduced specifications and are unlikely to exceed 16GB of memory.
AMD has confirmed that the official unveiling of the RX 9000 series is scheduled for February 28, during which detailed specifications, pricing, and performance metrics will be disclosed. The retail launch is anticipated to occur in early March, coinciding with the expected release of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5070 GPU. AMD has positioned its 70-class GPUs as direct competitors to NVIDIA’s equivalent offerings, and the performance comparison between the RX 9070 XT, RX 9070, and NVIDIA’s upcoming RTX 5070 Ti or RTX 5070 will be closely watched.
With the confirmation from AMD, the focus now shifts to the official launch event, where more concrete details regarding the RX 9000 series will be provided. Until then, speculation regarding a 32GB gaming GPU remains unfounded.
