AMD Confirms Radeon RX 9060 XT Unveiling Date, Shows Reference Design Render

AMD has officially announced that the Radeon RX 9060 XT GPU will be unveiled on May 21st during Computex 2025 in Taipei. The company also shared a render of the card’s reference design through its AMD Gaming social media channel, giving the public a first look at the model. However, similar to the previously revealed RX 9070 XT, the RX 9060 XT reference edition will not be made available for purchase.

The image shared by AMD highlights a dual-fan cooler design, consistent with what has been seen on other recent Radeon cards. The image carries a disclaimer at the bottom stating “Artistic Render Not Available for Purchase,” confirming that while AMD has designed a reference version, it will not be hitting retail shelves. It remains unclear whether this design will be used in limited internal or media testing, as was the case with the RX 9070 XT, whose reference design surfaced after its launch but was never commercially released.

Despite the absence of a retail reference model, the announcement confirms that full specifications and performance data will be revealed at the event. This includes detailed insights into the architecture, power consumption, and positioning of the RX 9060 XT within AMD’s broader GPU lineup.

From the render, one of the few confirmed technical aspects is the inclusion of a single 8-pin PCIe power connector. This suggests a total board power in the range of 200 watts or slightly below, placing the card in the upper mid-range segment. As usual, custom variants from board partners will likely push the power envelope further, particularly factory-overclocked models, which may include additional power connectors to support higher clock speeds.

Based on current expectations, the Radeon RX 9060 XT will feature 2048 Stream Processors. AMD is planning two memory configurations for this GPU: 8 GB and 16 GB of GDDR6 memory. The card will use a 128-bit memory interface, which aligns with mid-tier positioning and indicates that AMD is targeting gamers looking for high-performance 1080p or entry-level 1440p gaming experiences.

The 16 GB version is expected to be AMD’s primary focus at launch, with the 8 GB model possibly arriving later. This mirrors recent industry trends that emphasize larger VRAM capacities in mid-range graphics cards, especially for titles that demand more memory headroom at higher settings.

The Radeon RX 9060 XT is expected to compete with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, which occupies a similar market segment. AMD is likely positioning the RX 9060 XT to offer an alternative in terms of pricing, memory capacity, and power efficiency.

More details, including benchmarks and retail availability of partner cards, will be disclosed during AMD’s presentation at Computex 2025.
