GSC Game World has announced STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy – Enhanced Edition, a re-release of the previously remastered trilogy originally available on PS4 and Xbox One. The updated version will launch on May 20, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, bringing several technical improvements and features aimed at current-generation platforms.
The Enhanced Edition includes the same three titles—Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat—with upgrades to visuals and performance. These updates include improved lighting effects such as godrays, screen space reflections, sharper textures, and more detailed environments. Cutscenes have been pre-rendered in 4K to enhance visual presentation and consistency across all platforms.
Console players will have several display modes to choose from, depending on their platform. On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, four modes will be available:
- Quality Mode: 4K resolution at 30 frames per second
- Balanced Mode: 4K at 40fps
- Performance Mode: 4K at 60fps
- Ultra Performance Mode: 2K resolution at 120fps
Xbox Series S users will have access to three modes:
- Quality: 2K at 30fps
- Balanced: 2K at 40fps
- Performance: 1080p at 60fps
The frame rate and resolution combinations give players the option to prioritize either graphics or smoother gameplay.
PC players will have the usual flexibility to adjust settings based on their hardware. Alongside these improvements, the Enhanced Edition is now optimized for Steam Deck and includes cloud save support. These additions aim to make the trilogy more accessible across different devices.
Keyboard and mouse support will now be available on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles, giving players an alternative control option. Mod.io support has also been added for consoles, allowing players to install and enjoy mods, a feature that has traditionally been limited to PC versions of the games.
One important detail for returning players is that those who already own any of the STALKER trilogy remasters on previous platforms will receive the Enhanced Edition for free. This upgrade offer applies to both console and PC editions.
The release of this updated trilogy comes ahead of the launch of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, expected later this year. For players looking to revisit the Zone or experience it for the first time, this Enhanced Edition provides a refreshed version of the original games with added features and improved performance across modern systems.
