MaxTang is adding another compact system to the mini PC market with the new T1-AL50, a small-form-factor machine built around 12th and 13th generation Intel Core mobile processors. The system can be configured with up to an Intel Core i7-12700H while retaining a chassis measuring just 127 × 127 × 50.5 mm.
Despite its compact size, the T1-AL50 includes a useful selection of expansion and connectivity options. MaxTang equips the system with two DDR4 SO-DIMM slots, giving users access to upgradeable laptop-style memory rather than relying on soldered RAM. Storage is handled by two M.2 2280 slots, with one supporting PCIe drives and the other supporting both PCIe and SATA interfaces.
The mini PC also includes an M.2 2230 E-Key slot for a wireless networking card and uses an active cooling system to keep the Intel processor operating within its thermal limits. The starting weight is listed at 371 grams, making the T1-AL50 considerably smaller and lighter than a conventional desktop system.
Connectivity is another major part of the design. The front panel houses two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a Thunderbolt 4 Type-C port and a 3.5mm 2-in-1 audio jack. The Thunderbolt 4 interface can be used with compatible high-speed storage, displays, docks and other peripherals.
Around the back, MaxTang provides two 2.5GbE RJ-45 Ethernet ports, which could make the T1-AL50 particularly useful for users working with fast wired networks or local storage. The rear I/O also includes HDMI, DisplayPort, one USB 3.2 Type-A port and one USB 2.0 Type-A port.
The combination of an Intel Core i7-12700H option, upgradeable DDR4 memory, dual M.2 storage, Thunderbolt 4 and two 2.5GbE ports gives the T1-AL50 a broad range of connectivity for its small footprint. MaxTang has not provided pricing or detailed configuration information in the supplied announcement, so those details will determine how the new mini PC compares with competing compact systems.
