Huion is expanding its Android tablet lineup with the new Kamvas Pad 12, a device designed to combine digital drawing with everyday tablet use. Arriving about a year after the company introduced its Kamvas Slate series, the new model brings a larger focus on pen input, creative software, and portability.
The biggest change comes with the included PW600C battery-free EMR pen, which uses Huion’s latest PenTech 4.0 technology. Unlike a conventional active stylus, the pen does not need a battery, while its magnetic attachment lets users keep it connected to the tablet when moving between locations. For artists and students who frequently carry their drawing setup, this removes the need to keep track of a separate pen.
The Kamvas Pad 12 uses a 12.2-inch 2K display with a 2400 × 1600 resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. The 3:2 aspect ratio gives the tablet a taller workspace than the common 16:9 format, which can be useful for reading documents, viewing references, and working with creative applications. Huion also supports split-screen functionality, allowing users to keep a reference image or document open while drawing or taking notes.
The screen uses Canvas Glass 3.0, Huion’s glass treatment for its third-generation Kamvas displays. Its textured surface is designed to provide more resistance under the stylus and a drawing feel closer to paper. An AG+AF coating is also included to reduce reflections and limit fingerprints and smudges. Huion says the soft-light screen is intended to make extended drawing sessions easier on the eyes.
Under the hood, the tablet is powered by an 8-core MediaTek Genio 720 processor. The chipset is paired with Android 16, giving the Kamvas Pad 12 access to a broad range of Android applications in addition to Huion’s creative tools. The company says the hardware can handle multiple apps and projects with several drawing layers without noticeable lag.
The tablet comes with several creative applications already installed, including HiPaint, Clip Studio Paint, ibisPaint X, MediBang Paint, and Huion Note. This makes the Kamvas Pad 12 useful for illustration, sketching, and note-taking straight out of the box, while Android 16 also allows it to serve as a general-purpose tablet.
