The 8BitDo Ultimate 3E Controller for Xbox has apparently been delayed, with the company’s official online store now listing September 10, 2026, as the shipping date. The controller was previously scheduled to launch on August 31, meaning customers waiting for the new premium Xbox gamepad will have to wait a little longer. Pre-orders opened on May 26, with the company saying the controller would arrive in August. The August 31 date remained listed on the 8BitDo eShop and Amazon until the expected launch day, but the situation has now changed.
The official 8BitDo store currently says the Ultimate 3E will ship on September 10. Amazon’s US listing also no longer shows normal availability and is marked as temporarily out of stock, although customers can still add the controller to their cart. The retailer had continued displaying August 31 as the release date for several hours before its availability changed.
There are also reports that some early customers have already received the controller. A Discord user claimed on August 28 that their Ultimate 3E had arrived, indicating that at least some units may have been distributed before the wider retail launch. 8BitDo has not yet published an announcement explaining the change. If the company does not provide an update, the new date shown on its own store suggests that the general release has been moved from August 31 to September 10.
The Ultimate 3E is designed for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Android, and Apple devices. It supports wireless Xbox and PC connectivity through a 2.4GHz dongle, while a USB connection is also available. Bluetooth connectivity is included for compatible mobile devices.
The controller comes with several hardware features aimed at gamers who want more control over button mapping and stick response. These include TMR joysticks, Hall Effect triggers with trigger stops, two rear buttons, and remappable R4 and L4 shoulder buttons. The faceplate is removable, while the metal D-pad and ABXY module can be replaced.
Other specifications include a 1,000Hz polling rate, six-axis motion control, a 1,400mAh battery rated for up to 18 hours of use, and an audio jack. A wireless charging dock is included in the package.
The 8BitDo Ultimate 3E is priced at $149.99 on Amazon US and £124.99 in the UK. Amazon UK currently lists October 23 as the release date, which would put the UK launch considerably later than the updated US shipping date.
