GPD BOX Mini PC Launches With Intel Core Ultra X7 356H and 358H, Prices Start at $1,491

GPD has officially entered the mini PC market with the launch of the GPD BOX, marking the company’s first desktop-focused system after years of developing gaming handhelds. The new compact PC is now available through an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign and comes in two configurations powered by Intel’s latest Panther Lake processors. Pricing starts at $1,491 for the model equipped with 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD.

The company has built its reputation around portable gaming devices, including the recently announced WIN 5 powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor. With the GPD BOX, it is now targeting users looking for a compact desktop that can handle gaming, productivity, and AI workloads without taking up much desk space.

Buyers can choose between the Intel Core Ultra X7 356H and the Intel Core Ultra X7 358H, with both processors offering 16 cores and 16 threads. Intel’s latest Xe3 graphics architecture is included on both chips, while the higher-end Core Ultra X7 358H features the more powerful Intel Arc B390 integrated GPU, allowing users to play many modern games without installing a dedicated graphics card. The processor is also rated for up to 180 TOPS of AI performance, making it suitable for local AI applications and content creation tasks.

GPD is also introducing new connectivity options with the BOX. According to the company, it is the world’s first mini PC equipped with an MCIO 8i interface running at PCIe 5.0 x8 speeds alongside dual USB4 v2.0 ports. The higher PCIe bandwidth provides more headroom for external GPU solutions compared to previous mini PCs that rely on PCIe 4.0 x8 implementations. Earlier products, including the TOPC TA255, offered MCIO support but were limited to the older PCIe standard.

Both versions of the GPD BOX include 32 GB of system memory and a 1 TB SSD. The Core Ultra X7 356H model is priced at $1,491, while the Core Ultra X7 358H version is listed at $1,575 on Indiegogo.

The mini PC has also appeared on Amazon Japan, although orders have not yet opened. According to PC Watch, the Core Ultra X7 356H model will retail for 293,000 Yen (around US$1,802), while the Core Ultra X7 358H version is expected to launch at 308,000 Yen (around US$1,894) once sales officially begin next month.
