MercurySteam has confirmed that Blades of Fire will launch on Steam on May 14, 2026, bringing the 3D action-adventure title to a wider PC audience. The studio, known for its work on Metroid Dread, shifted direction with this project, delivering a darker fantasy experience built around melee combat and weapon forging systems.
In Blades of Fire, players take on the role of Aran de Lira, described as the last blacksmith capable of forging true steel. Set in a world under the rule of a powerful Queen, the story follows Aran’s mission to confront her and end her control over the realm. Combat is closely tied to crafting, with players forging weapons that directly influence performance in battle. Materials, weapon parts, and player choices shape how encounters play out.
Ahead of the Steam release, MercurySteam has made a playable demo available on the platform. The demo arrives in time for Steam Next Fest, which is scheduled to begin in two weeks. It offers PC players an opportunity to test performance, explore early gameplay systems, and experience the core loop before launch.
The Steam version will launch alongside Version 2.0, a major update that introduces new gameplay features and technical enhancements. A new difficulty setting called “Titanium” has been added for players seeking a more demanding experience. The update also introduces element transmutation, allowing players to change material types during the forging process, potentially expanding build variety and experimentation.

Additional features include a New Game Plus mode with exclusive weapon parts and skins available only in NG+. A boss revival mode allows players to replay previous boss fights, while a newly added photo mode gives users tools to capture in-game moments. Players can also interact with and pet the Ox companion, a small but notable addition.
On the technical side, Version 2.0 adds support for NVIDIA DLSS 4, aiming to improve performance and image clarity on supported hardware. Steam Deck support has been implemented, and full keyboard and mouse key remapping is now available. New achievements have also been introduced.
Steam players will receive the Adventure Pack, which includes the original soundtrack and a digital art book. Players on other platforms can purchase the pack separately.
With its Steam debut and Version 2.0 update, Blades of Fire is positioned to expand its reach on PC with added content and performance upgrades at launch.
