VGN is preparing to expand its Dragonfly series with the release of a new flagship gaming mouse called the Dragonfly King. Promotional material shared on Redditcommunity platforms indicates that the official launch is scheduled for October 15. The company claims this model introduces a new design approach by using a full magnesium chassis without the typical perforated shell design seen in many lightweight mice.
According to information released, the magnesium shell has been in development for two years, with VGN highlighting wireless reception stability as one of the main challenges during the design process. Magnesium offers high strength while keeping weight relatively low, but integrating it into a wireless mouse without affecting signal quality required extended testing.

While the release date is confirmed, VGN has not clarified whether the launch will be global or limited to select regions. Pricing details are also unavailable at this stage, though expectations are that it will be positioned at the higher end of the market. Other Dragonfly series mice are priced near $100, and the use of magnesium and a proprietary shell design suggests that the Dragonfly King will be marketed as a premium product.
Based on promotional images, the Dragonfly King features a compact shape with a low profile, a pronounced rear hump, and strongly concave sides. This form factor appears similar to recently released competitive gaming mice such as the ATK Blazing Sky Duckbill, which favors smaller hand sizes or claw and fingertip grip styles. The construction shown in the materials consists of a base, an internal support structure, and the magnesium shell on top. The internal skeleton is designed to house the main sensor and microcontroller while also improving durability and stiffness compared to traditional lightweight plastic shells.

Exact specifications, such as the final weight and dimensions, have not been disclosed. Early discussions suggest the weight may not match the ultra-light levels of VGN’s Dragonfly Y2 Ultra+, which comes in at 41 g, though weight reduction measures such as underside cutouts are visible.
Internally, the Dragonfly King is expected to use the same components found in other Dragonfly models, including the Nordic 52840 SoC and PixArt PAW3950 sensor. This combination has previously delivered reliable wireless performance with up to 100–120 hours of battery life, and the same performance level is anticipated for the new model.
With the October 15 release approaching, more details about pricing and regional availability are likely to surface soon. The Dragonfly King signals VGN’s continued focus on material innovation and compact design in the gaming mouse market.
