Bose has officially announced the next generation of its flagship noise-cancelling headphones, the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen). Building on the success of the QuietComfort lineup, the new release introduces advanced features in audio quality, noise cancellation, and everyday usability, while also debuting a refreshed premium design.
Upgraded Noise Cancellation and Audio Performance
The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) feature a newly developed adaptive noise cancellation algorithm. This improves Bose’s Aware Mode with smoother adjustments when filtering sudden background sounds such as passing trains or sirens. Noise cancellation can also now be turned off completely or manually adjusted through the Bose Music app.
For wired listening, Bose introduces USB-C lossless audio, enabling playback at 16-bit, 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz. This ensures detailed sound reproduction for high-resolution music, while also providing low-latency performance suited for gaming and other time-sensitive applications.
The headphones also include Cinema Mode, designed to spatialize audio for video playback. By widening the soundstage and enhancing dialogue clarity, it delivers a more immersive experience for movies, TV, podcasts, and audiobooks.
Bose has further refined the overall sound profile, improving bass depth at higher volumes, making treble frequencies sound more natural, and reducing background noise produced by the noise cancellation system itself. CustomTune technology remains, adapting sound output to the shape of the listener’s ears for consistent performance.
Designed for Everyday Use
Convenience features have been expanded with smarter on-head detection, allowing the headphones to power on and connect automatically when worn, without pressing a button. When not in use, they enter a low-power standby mode, extending battery preservation for months.
Battery life has been improved, offering up to 30 hours of playback (23 hours with Immersive Audio on, 45 hours with ANC off). Charging during playback is now possible via the USB-C port.
The design introduces polished metal yokes and two new limited-edition finishes: Driftwood Sand and Midnight Violet. Combined with soft ear cushions and an adjustable headband, the updated look emphasizes both style and long-term comfort.
Connectivity and App Support
The QC Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) support Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint connectivity, allowing connections to two devices at the same time. Codec support includes SBC, AAC, and Qualcomm aptX Adaptive for hi-resolution, low-latency playback when paired with Snapdragon Sound-certified devices.
Android users benefit from Google Fast Pair, while Spotify listeners can take advantage of Spotify Tap for quick music access. The Bose Music app provides control over ANC levels, EQ settings, custom listening modes, and firmware updates.
