YUNZII has launched the AL98 PRO, a new tri-mode mechanical keyboard that combines a compact 98% layout with an aluminum construction, hot-swappable switches, and an 8,000Hz polling rate. The keyboard has initially been introduced in the Chinese market and is aimed at users looking for a board that can handle both gaming and everyday typing.
The YUNZII AL98 PRO uses original CHERRY-height PBT + PC dual-material keycaps. The keycaps are paired with a shell made from die-cast and CNC-machined aluminum alloy, which is then finished with a powder coating. A rotary knob is placed in the upper-right corner of the keyboard, providing quick access to compatible controls.
The internal design uses a multi-layer gasket-mounted structure. Its PCB supports hot-swappable mechanical switches, so users can replace the switches without having to solder them to the board. The PCB also features ARGB LEDs in the lower LED position. YUNZII has added lighting around the logo and the USB-C port as well.
Connectivity is another major part of the AL98 PRO. The keyboard supports wired USB-C and 2.4GHz wireless connectivity, with an 8,000Hz polling rate available through both connection methods. It also supports Bluetooth as part of its tri-mode wireless setup. For wireless operation, the keyboard carries an 8,000mAh battery, with YUNZII listing a nominal battery life of up to 72 hours.
The AL98 PRO runs QMK firmware and supports VIA, allowing users to remap keys and configure the keyboard according to their preferences. This gives the keyboard more flexibility for users who want to adjust their layouts, shortcuts, and controls without replacing the board.
YUNZII is offering the AL98 PRO in three color options: Neon Illusion, White Ghost, and Night City. Buyers can also select between Snow Top Coffee V2 switches and Candy switches. The combination of a 98% layout, aluminum chassis, gasket-mounted construction, hot-swappable PCB, QMK and VIA support, and 8KHz polling puts the AL98 PRO firmly in the enthusiast mechanical keyboard category.
