Playtonic Games has announced that Yooka-Replaylee, an enhanced edition of its 2017 platformer Yooka-Laylee, will release on October 9, 2025. The game will be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2.
For players who already own the original Yooka-Laylee, the upgraded version will be offered at a 30% discount from its $29.99 / £24.99 / €28,99 launch price. A physical retail edition will also be available for $49.99, which includes additional collectible items exclusive to the boxed release.
According to Playtonic studio director Gavin Price, the project aims to deliver more than a simple visual overhaul. “Yooka-Replaylee is built to shine on every platform, and we’re chuffed to bits it’s on Switch 2 from day one. It’s bigger, brighter, bolder, and packed with all the little touches we always dreamed of.”
Publisher PM Studios echoed this vision, with chief marketing officer Ami Blaire noting, “It’s rare to see a game get this kind of second life – not as a remaster, but as a true reinvention.”
Yooka-Replaylee introduces multiple changes to the original game. The story has been expanded with new sequences, and several gameplay elements have been redesigned. The original mini-games have been removed in favor of new isometric platforming challenges. Collectibles, camera behavior, and movement controls have also been refined, alongside a reworked soundtrack and a map system designed to improve navigation.
Rather than a simple remaster, the release functions as a reimagined version of Yooka-Laylee, retaining its foundation while implementing broad adjustments. Players will be able to see how the new edition compares to the original when it launches this October.
