Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio used the RGG Summit 2025 livestream to confirm Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, following leaks that surfaced earlier this month. The new release is described as a full remake of the 2009 PlayStation 3 title Yakuza 3, rebuilt with modern visuals, expanded combat systems, and additional story elements.
The remake recreates Okinawa and Tokyo with greater visual detail, while combat has been refined to deliver smoother mechanics. New cutscenes have been added to provide more context to the original storyline, and side content has been expanded to further immerse players in the game world.
Alongside the remake, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is introducing Dark Ties, a brand-new side game included with Kiwami 3. The story focuses on Yoshitaka Mine and explores how he chooses to enter the world of the yakuza after losing everything. The narrative is supported by boxing-based combat mechanics and new side activities, expanding Mine’s role within the series.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties will launch on February 11, 2026, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders are available now, with the Standard Edition priced at $59.99 and a Deluxe Edition at $74.99. All pre-orders include the “Legendary Lad: Ichiban Kasuga” bonus, while the Deluxe Edition offers additional content packs, customization features, and a music collection.
The studio also announced Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, set to release on December 8, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This updated version of the 2015 title includes both Japanese and English voice tracks, expanded story cutscenes, and an online co-op mode called “Red Light Raid,” which will be added in a post-launch update. Save data from the original game will not carry over, and no upgrade path is available for existing owners.
In addition, Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2 will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on the same date. To celebrate the franchise’s milestone, a Yakuza Series 20th Anniversary Bundle will launch for PC and PlayStation 5 as a physical edition, including Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2.
These announcements mark a significant step for the franchise as it enters its 20th anniversary, giving both long-time fans and new players an opportunity to revisit core entries with updated features and enhanced accessibility.
