Xiaomi Launches Magnetic Bluetooth Speaker That Doubles as a Phone Stand

Xiaomi has a new accessory for phone users who want a small Bluetooth Speaker without carrying a separate stand, and early crowdfunding buyers can currently get it for around $20. The Xiaomi Bluetooth Speaker Magnetic Version attaches to the back of compatible wireless charging phones and also holds the handset at an angle, giving the device a second purpose when watching videos or playing music.

The speaker is being crowdfunded through Xiaomi Youpin in China, where its regular price is ¥199 (around $30). Early backers can purchase it for ¥132 (around $20). The magnetic base works with phones that support wireless charging, including compatible iPhones.

A Hall effect sensor detects when the speaker is attached and automatically powers it on. Xiaomi has given the device a dome-shaped body covered in woven fabric mesh, with black and tan color options. An illuminated ring around the base cycles through blue, purple, and pink effects while responding to the music.

The 1.5-inch driver delivers 3W of rated power, making the speaker better suited to phone videos, podcasts, and background music than filling a large room. Two units can be paired for stereo playback, while Xiaomi says as many as 10 speakers can be connected for a larger audio setup.

The speaker also carries an IP67 rating and supports Bluetooth 6.0. Charging is handled through USB-C, although Xiaomi does not include a charging cable or power adapter in the box. There is also no Hyper AI voice assistant, so this is focused on Bluetooth audio rather than smart-speaker functions.
