Wooting Announces 60HE v2 with Improved Build and New Lekker Tikken Magnetic Switches

Wooting has officially announced the 60HE v2, an updated version of its popular 60HE keyboard. The new model was revealed on May 16, and the company confirmed that the keyboard will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.

The Wooting 60HE v2 maintains the compact 60% layout of the original, but introduces several changes to its construction and internal components. One of the most notable upgrades is the move to an all-aluminum alloy shell, replacing the plastic case from the original model. This change is expected to provide better durability and a more premium build.

Another key improvement is the addition of a built-in multi-layer sound absorption structure. This is designed to reduce resonance and improve acoustics during typing. Users will also have the option to add a side strap, although details on its function have not been fully disclosed. The space bar now supports both integrated and split configurations, offering more flexibility for users who prefer customized layouts.

At the heart of the keyboard are the new Lekker Tikken linear magnetic switches. These analog switches have been designed with tighter manufacturing tolerances to improve consistency across keys. The switches offer a total travel distance of 4.0mm, with an actuation force starting at 40 centinewtons and bottoming out at 60 centinewtons. According to the company, the switches are rated for 100 million actuations and produce a tapping sound that resembles the feel of marble, which could appeal to users who prefer quieter and deeper-sounding key presses.

The 60HE v2 also supports a true 8000Hz polling rate, significantly higher than the standard 1000Hz offered by most mechanical keyboards. This high polling rate is available through Wooting’s Tachyon mode, which disables RGB lighting to prioritize performance. This mode is aimed at competitive gamers and users who require the fastest possible input response.

Wooting has not yet released pricing for the 60HE v2, but more details are expected closer to the official launch later this year. The company also has not confirmed whether the current accessories or modules for the original 60HE will be compatible with the new version.

With these upgrades, Wooting appears to be refining its formula rather than reinventing it, focusing on better materials, sound, and performance. The 60HE v2 is likely to attract both enthusiasts looking for a high-quality compact keyboard and gamers interested in faster response times.
