Weikav Launches NUT87 Dual 8K Keyboard With Aluminum Build and 2,000-Hour Battery

Weikav has entered the high-polling-rate mechanical keyboard market with the NUT87 Dual 8K, an 80% TKL keyboard that combines 8KHz wireless polling with a 10,000mAh battery and an all-aluminum construction. Starting at $149, the new keyboard is aimed at gamers and keyboard enthusiasts looking for a compact layout without giving up features normally found on more expensive custom-style boards.

The NUT87 uses an 80% TKL layout and has a 19mm front height, giving it a relatively low profile for a mechanical keyboard with this feature set. Its chassis is built from aluminum with a 220-grid anodized and electroplated finish, while the rear backplate uses a blade/feather texture. Weikav has also included a ball-bearing quick-release mechanism for easier access to the keyboard’s internal components.

Underneath the keycaps, the NUT87 Dual 8K uses a magnetic Pogo Pin connection and gasket structure with five layers of damping material. The keyboard features a 1.2mm single-key slotted PCB and supports hot-swappable switches, so users can change switches without having to solder them to the board.

Weikav ships the NUT87 with HMX Milk Yellow or Titanium Silver switches, depending on the configuration, along with PBT double-shot injection-molded keycaps. The keyboard also features illuminated keys and RGB ambient lighting strips along the rear and sides. The lighting supports multiple effects and music-rhythm modes, adding customizable lighting beyond the main key backlight.

The biggest feature for competitive gamers is the keyboard’s wireless polling rate. The NUT87 supports USB-C, 2.4GHz wireless, and Bluetooth connectivity, with the 2.4GHz connection capable of reaching an 8KHz polling rate. This allows the keyboard to report input at a much higher frequency than traditional 1KHz gaming keyboards.

Weikav has also fitted the keyboard with a 10,000mAh battery. According to the company, the NUT87 can provide up to 2,000 hours of battery life even when operating at an 8KHz polling rate. Actual runtime will vary depending on RGB lighting, connection mode, polling rate, and usage patterns, but the large battery is designed to reduce the need for frequent charging.

With a $149 starting price, the Weikav NUT87 Dual 8K brings several enthusiast-focused features into a compact TKL design. The 8KHz 2.4GHz wireless polling rate will be the main attraction for competitive gamers, while the aluminum construction, gasket mounting, hot-swap PCB, large battery, and customizable RGB lighting make the keyboard suitable for users who also care about typing feel and customization. Weikav is positioning the NUT87 as a keyboard that can cover both high-speed gaming and everyday use without moving to a full-size layout.
