Silicon Power has introduced the Hypera microSD Express Memory card, a new storage solution that combines PCIe Gen 3×1 and NVMe technology in a microSD form factor. Designed for gaming, content creation, and high-performance mobile applications, the card offers transfer speeds of up to 880 MB/s read and 700 MB/s write. Capacities range from 256 GB to 1 TB, providing options for users with different storage requirements.
The Hypera brings PCIe performance to microSD cards, offering a significant step up from conventional storage solutions. Compared to UHS-II cards, it delivers up to 2.7 times faster performance and up to eight times the speed of UHS-I cards. These improvements enable faster game loading, smoother handling of large files, and support for demanding applications such as high-resolution video recording and editing.
With support for the V30 video speed class, the Hypera is also capable of recording 4K UHD content on compatible devices. Its high capacities allow users to store extensive libraries of games, videos, and other large assets, addressing the growing demands of modern devices and workflows.
The card is confirmed to work with the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, which is expected to introduce larger game files and increased storage needs. This makes it a practical option for gamers looking to expand storage on handheld consoles.
Despite its next-generation features, the Hypera retains backward compatibility with UHS-I devices. In these systems, it operates at speeds of up to 104 MB/s, ensuring it can still be used with a wide range of older hardware.
Silicon Power has not yet announced specific pricing or availability, but the Hypera is expected to launch in global markets later this year. It aims to provide a compact yet high-performance solution for users who need fast and reliable portable storage.
