Samsung has officially announced its latest generation of foldable smartphones, introducing the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The new lineup expands Samsung’s foldable portfolio with three different models designed to serve different types of users, ranging from those looking for a lightweight daily device to creators and professionals who need a larger workspace. Alongside new hardware, Samsung is also rolling out One UI 9 and enhanced Galaxy AI features that take advantage of each foldable form factor.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 becomes Samsung’s lightest Fold smartphone so far, weighing just 201 grams. The company has redesigned the device to provide a more comfortable experience when folded while offering a larger workspace after unfolding. Samsung says the updated display ratios make browsing, reading, gaming, and watching videos feel more natural, allowing users to move between the cover display and the main screen without changing the way they interact with content.

Powering the Galaxy Z Fold8 is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, paired with a larger 4,800mAh battery. Samsung says the combination delivers improved performance while maintaining battery life throughout the day. The Fold8 also introduces Flex Titanium technology, a new display structure that combines a titanium-alloy film with an upgraded titanium support plate. According to Samsung, this design helps reduce the device’s thickness while improving durability and reducing crease visibility over extended use.

The display itself receives several upgrades, including up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, Vision Booster technology, and a low-reflection finish that improves outdoor visibility. Samsung has also optimized the screen ratios for different activities. The cover display is designed for messaging, social media, and quick browsing, while the larger internal display provides additional space for multitasking, gaming, movies, and reading.

Photography has also been upgraded on the Galaxy Z Fold8. The smartphone features dual 50MP cameras covering wide and ultra-wide photography. Samsung has added Dual Recording, allowing users to record both the subject and themselves at the same time while previewing footage on the cover display.

Another new feature, My FanCam, automatically tracks selected subjects and adjusts framing to create videos suitable for social media without requiring manual editing.

For users who need even more performance and creative tools, Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. The new flagship foldable features an 8-inch main display while measuring only 4.1mm thick when unfolded. Despite the larger display, the device weighs 215 grams, making it one of Samsung’s thinnest Fold models to date.

The camera system is one of the biggest upgrades in the Fold8 Ultra. Samsung equips the device with a 200MP primary camera capable of HDR shooting at full resolution, alongside a new 50MP ultra-wide camera that improves landscape photography, group shots, macro images, and interior photography. Nightography has also been enhanced to deliver brighter images and cleaner videos in low-light environments.
Video creators also receive several improvements. The Fold8 Ultra supports 8K recording using Samsung’s new APV codec, while Cine LUT allows users to apply cinematic color profiles directly from the device before editing.

Samsung pairs the Fold8 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, a larger 5,000mAh battery, and 45W fast charging. A redesigned dual-path charging system improves charging efficiency while an expanded graphite cooling structure helps maintain performance during gaming, multitasking, AI processing, and video editing.

The Galaxy Z Flip8 continues Samsung’s compact foldable lineup with a slimmer design that weighs only 180 grams and measures 6.1mm thick. The biggest software improvement comes through the redesigned FlexWindow, which now works as an AI-powered interface capable of displaying information, shortcuts, and Galaxy AI features without opening the phone.
Users can access applications, receive personalized recommendations, view Now Brief summaries, and activate Gemini Intelligence directly from the cover display using voice commands or the side key. Samsung says this allows users to complete common tasks faster while keeping frequently used information easily accessible.

The Flip8 also improves Samsung’s selfie experience through its 50MP main camera and updated ProVisual Engine. The camera system delivers improved portraits, more natural skin tones, better background separation, and enhanced image processing. Flex Mode remains available for hands-free shooting, while Camcorder Grip with Zoom Rocker offers additional control when recording videos. Samsung has also included Super Steady with Horizontal Lock, FlipShot personalization, and Mirror View to make selfies and video recording easier.
Galaxy AI plays a central role across the entire Galaxy Z lineup. Samsung has optimized AI experiences for each form factor through One UI 9, introducing new tools such as Now Brief, Now Nudge, and expanded Gemini Intelligence integration. Users can receive personalized recommendations, reminders, summaries, and suggested actions based on conversations and daily routines. Gemini Notebook also allows users to organize notes, documents, recordings, and images inside a single workspace while supporting drag-and-drop multitasking on Fold devices.

Samsung is also strengthening privacy and security alongside its AI features. The new Galaxy Z series includes Samsung Knox, Knox Vault, Personal Data Engine, Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), AI Assistant Activity Dashboard, and Enhanced Privacy Alerts, giving users greater visibility into AI-generated actions while protecting sensitive information.

All three smartphones are available for pre-order starting today in select markets. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is offered in Graphite, Cream, Violet Shadow, and the online-exclusive Green Shadow. The Galaxy Z Fold8 comes in Graphite, Cream, Lavender, and online-exclusive Pistachio, while the Galaxy Z Flip8 is available in Graphite, Cream, Pink, and online-exclusive Mint.
Samsung is also bundling six months of Google AI Pro, including 5TB of cloud storage, with the new foldable lineup. The company has updated Smart Switch to simplify transfers from iPhone, adding support for passwords, passkeys, call history, accessibility settings, eSIM data, and QR code-based wireless migration. Quick Share now also supports compatibility with AirDrop for easier file transfers between Galaxy and Apple devices.
