Rumors about a Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake have intensified in recent weeks, with two well-known insiders independently pointing to an early 2027 release window. While CAPCOM has yet to confirm the project, the consistency of recent reports suggests the remake is already well underway.
In mid-December, long-time CAPCOM leaker Dusk Golem claimed that Resident Evil Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero were next on the company’s remake roadmap. According to his information, Code Veronica is targeting a 2027 launch, while Resident Evil Zero would follow in 2028. He later added that the next Resident Evil remake scheduled for release would be officially announced sometime in 2026.
More recently, another prominent insider, Nate the Hate, reinforced those claims. Posting on X, he stated that Resident Evil Code Veronica is “deep in development” and currently planned for release in the first half of 2027. Nate the Hate has built a strong reputation for accurate reporting, which has further fueled discussion around the project.
CAPCOM’s recent remake releases have seen strong commercial performance. Resident Evil 2 Remake has sold 16.3 million units, making it the company’s third best-selling game to date. Resident Evil 4 Remake, launched in March 2023, has reached 11.1 million copies sold, while Resident Evil 3 Remake stands at 10.6 million units. Despite mixed reactions to RE3, the remake strategy has proven commercially successful.

CAPCOM confirmed in late 2023 that additional remakes were in development, and Code Veronica has long been one of the most requested titles among fans. Originally released on the Sega Dreamcast, the game later arrived on other platforms but never matched the reach of the main numbered entries.
Set roughly three months after Resident Evil 2, Code Veronica follows Claire and Chris Redfield as they battle viral outbreaks on a remote prison island and an Antarctic research facility. If current reports are accurate, players may see this chapter return in the near future.
