Remedy Entertainment has outlined new details for the New Game Plus mode in Control Resonant, offering a clearer picture of how the studio is approaching replayability in its next release. The information was shared through the PlayStation Blog, focusing on gameplay changes that go beyond typical stat scaling.

In Control Resonant, New Game Plus becomes available after completing the main story, allowing players to begin another run while carrying over a large portion of their progress. This includes Aberrant upgrades, health increases, supernatural abilities, talents, and previously collected artifacts. Rather than resetting progression, the system builds on what players have already unlocked, opening up room for different playstyles.
This design leans heavily on flexibility. Remedy explains that not every upgrade is available in a single playthrough, turning a second run into a chance to experiment with setups that were previously out of reach. An extra artifact slot opens up more loadout combinations, with the potential to push damage higher depending on how everything is configured. Players can also stack multiple combat abilities linked to the same boss, which introduces fresh synergies during fights.

The progression loop is further supported by expanded crafting and item systems. More artifacts become available, alongside additional crafting options that help tailor builds for specific situations. This gives players more control when preparing for encounters, especially as the challenge level increases in New Game Plus.
Enemy design has also been adjusted for this mode. Opponents are not only stronger but also behave differently compared to their standard versions. Remedy highlights changes to boss encounters, where new patterns and mechanics require players to rethink familiar strategies. These updates are intended to increase pressure during combat while rewarding a better understanding of the game’s systems.

Control Resonant is still designed to support different playstyles, but New Game Plus places more emphasis on decision-making and build planning. With its release window set for Q2 2026, the sequel is shaping up to expand on the systems introduced in Control while offering more depth for returning players.
