REALFORCE has officially launched the R4, the latest addition to its R-series of capacitive keyboards. This release comes nearly four years after the introduction of the R3 model, bringing several enhancements to meet the evolving needs of users.
The R4 offers dual connectivity modes: wired USB-C and wireless Bluetooth 5.0. This flexibility allows users to connect the keyboard to various devices, including desktops, laptops, and tablets. In Bluetooth mode, the R4 can connect to up to four devices simultaneously, facilitating seamless switching between devices. Users can choose between two layout options: full-size (100%) and tenkeyless (TKL). The keyboard is available in two color finishes—black and white—and offers two key layout configurations: Japanese JIS and English ANSI. The Japanese layout model provides additional switch options, including 45g, 30g, and variable force switches, while the English layout model is equipped with 45g force switches.
The R4 is equipped with Topre silent switches, known for their smooth keystrokes and quiet operation. These switches have a lifespan of 100 million keystrokes and feature a total travel distance of 4.0mm. Users can adjust the actuation points from 0.8mm to 3.0mm in 0.1mm increments, allowing for a customized typing experience. The keycaps are made of thermally sublimated PBT, ensuring durability and resistance to wear. The R4 also includes a proximity sensor that wakes the keyboard from standby mode upon detection of nearby movement. Additionally, the keyboard supports mouse emulation, enhancing its versatility for various tasks.
The REALFORCE R4 is priced at ¥37,180 for the full-size model and ¥36,520 for the tenkeyless version in Japan. Considering the current exchange rate, these prices approximately convert to $245 and $240 USD, respectively. The keyboard is set to be available for purchase starting October 18, 2025, through various online retailers, including Amazon Japan, Rakuten, and BIC Camera.
