PUBG: Blindspot Shuts Down Less Than Two Months After Launch

PUBG: Blindspot, a 5v5 top-down tactical shooter released in early February, has officially shut down on March 30, 2026. The project was developed by the ARC Team and published under the same umbrella as PUBG: Battlegrounds, aiming to expand the franchise into a different gameplay style while maintaining the brand’s tactical elements. The title launched as a free-to-play Early Access experience but remained available for less than two months before the developer confirmed the closure.

According to the studio, the decision follows internal evaluation of player feedback and overall engagement levels during the Early Access period. ARC Team stated that, despite attempts to refine gameplay and improve systems based on community responses, the team could not sustainably maintain development at the originally planned level. The developer indicated that continued support would not meet the intended quality standards, prompting the shutdown announcement.

On Steam, PUBG: Blindspot maintained a 72 percent positive rating, suggesting that player impressions were generally mixed but not negative overall. However, concurrent player numbers remained relatively low throughout its availability. The game reached an all-time peak of 3,251 players, while recent 24-hour activity dropped to just 236 concurrent users before the closure. The title has since been removed from the Steam storefront, and players are no longer able to access the game.

The closure adds to a growing list of recent industry changes affecting both released titles and projects still in development. Among them is Highguard, along with multiple projects influenced by Ubisoft’s restructuring efforts. In a separate case, Riot Games confirmed workforce reductions impacting development of the upcoming fighting title 2XKO, citing long-term sustainability considerations.

Recent developments highlight ongoing challenges facing live-service releases, particularly new entries attempting to build player communities in competitive multiplayer genres. Development costs, post-launch support requirements, and the need for consistent player engagement remain major factors influencing long-term viability. Even projects connected to established franchises may struggle to maintain momentum if early adoption levels remain limited.
