OneXPlayer has introduced a new limited-edition variant of its X1 Pro handheld gaming PC. Known as the “EVA Edition,” this model draws design inspiration from the popular Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series and marks a shift in internal hardware, moving from AMD’s Ryzen platform to Intel’s latest mobile processor lineup.
The EVA Edition of the X1 Pro is equipped with Intel’s Core Ultra 7 255H processor, which features 16 cores and is part of the Arrow Lake-H series. The device also includes 64 GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 2 TB NVMe SSD. This variant does not offer lower memory or storage configurations, unlike the AMD version, which has more flexible options starting at 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD.
The Intel Core Ultra 7 255H performs well in single-threaded workloads, slightly edging out AMD’s Ryzen AI HX 370, which powers the earlier model of the X1 Pro. On the other hand, AMD’s 12-core chip maintains a performance advantage in multi-threaded tasks. GPU performance also sees differences. Intel’s integrated Arc Graphics 140T outpaces AMD’s Radeon 890M in synthetic benchmarks. However, when it comes to actual gameplay, the results are mixed. Depending on the game, each platform can come out on top. For instance, titles like Grand Theft Auto V may perform better on AMD hardware, while others such as Strange Brigade, may see smoother results on the Intel-powered model.
Aside from the processor swap and limited-edition theme, the OneXPlayer X1 Pro EVA version retains the same physical design and features as the original X1 Pro. It includes a 10.95-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The system supports touch input and continues to offer laptop-like functionality with an optional magnetic keyboard.
The port selection remains unchanged. Users can expect dual USB-C ports, a full-sized USB 3.2 port, a microSD card slot, an OCuLink interface for external GPU connectivity, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Wireless connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 are also carried over.
The OneXPlayer X1 Pro EVA Edition carries a premium price tag of $1,650, placing it in the same pricing bracket as the high-end AMD configuration. While performance between the two models is largely on par, the decision may come down to software preference, game compatibility, or interest in the themed design.
This release adds another option to the growing handheld gaming PC market, particularly for users looking for a device with high memory capacity, fast storage, and a unique visual aesthetic. Availability for the EVA Edition is limited, and the device is expected to appeal to both gaming enthusiasts and anime fans.
