Nubia has introduced a new budget Android tablet in Japan, expanding its lineup with the Nubia Pad Plus (Wi-Fi). The tablet arrives with a large 12-inch display, a Unisoc processor, Android 16, and an 8,000mAh battery, while keeping its price below the JPY 40,000 mark.
The Nubia Pad Plus is equipped with a 12-inch IPS display offering a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels. It also supports a 90Hz refresh rate, which should provide smoother scrolling and navigation compared to conventional 60Hz tablets. The larger panel is aimed at users who spend time watching videos, browsing the web, reading, or using multiple apps on a bigger screen.
Under the hood, Nubia has used the Unisoc T820 chipset, also referred to as the Unisoc T9100. The 6nm chip features an octa-core CPU alongside an ARM Mali-G57 MC4 GPU. The Japanese model comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The tablet includes an 8,000mAh battery and supports up to 26W wired charging. Nubia claims the battery can deliver up to 7.6 hours of video playback or 9.5 hours of web browsing, although real-world results will depend on screen brightness, network activity, and the applications being used. Buyers should keep in mind that a charging adapter is not included in the box.
For cameras, the Nubia Pad Plus features a 13MP sensor on the rear and an 8MP front-facing camera for video calls and other basic tasks. The device ships with Android 16, bringing Nubia’s latest tablet offering onto Google’s newest Android platform.
Nubia has also included a quad-speaker system and Widevine L1 certification, allowing supported streaming services to offer higher-resolution protected content. Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0, while the 3.5mm headphone jack remains available for wired audio users.
USB-C video output is also supported, allowing users to mirror the tablet’s screen on a compatible external display. This can be useful for presentations, media playback, or working on a larger screen.
The Nubia Pad Plus carries an IPX2 water-resistance rating and is available in gray. It measures approximately 281 x 177 x 7.2 mm and weighs around 550 grams.
The tablet is now available on Amazon Japan for JPY 39,800, or approximately $249. Nubia is also selling an optional keyboard with an integrated touchpad for JPY 9,800, roughly $61. A limited-quantity bundle containing both the tablet and keyboard is priced at JPY 42,800, or around $268.
With the bundle costing only slightly more than the tablet by itself, the keyboard package could be the more interesting option for buyers looking to use the Nubia Pad Plus for light productivity. The combination of a 12-inch 90Hz display, Android 16, quad speakers, USB-C video output, and a relatively low price gives Nubia another option in Japan’s increasingly competitive budget tablet market.
