nubia has introduced the Z70S Ultra, a new version of its Z70 Ultra camera-focused smartphone launched late last year. The updated model brings a bigger main camera sensor, a fixed aperture lens, a larger battery, and some small design changes while keeping the core features familiar.
The nubia Z70S Ultra’s main camera now uses a 50-megapixel 1/1.3-inch OmniVision Light Fusion 900 sensor. This is a step up from the 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX906 sensor used in the earlier Z70 Ultra. The lens setup has also changed. Instead of a variable aperture between f/1.6 and f/4.0, the new phone has a fixed f/1.7 aperture with a 35mm equivalent focal length.

The rest of the rear camera setup includes a 64-megapixel telephoto camera with a 70mm focal length, built around a 1/2-inch sensor with an f/2.48 aperture and optical image stabilization. There is also a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 13mm focal length and 122-degree field of view. This ultra-wide camera supports autofocus and can be used for macro shots at close distances, down to 2.5cm. nubia has kept the design familiar but added a dedicated physical shutter button for faster camera access. Holding the button while the phone is locked launches the camera app immediately, making it easier to capture quick shots.
Another upgrade is the larger 6,600mAh battery, an improvement over the 6,150mAh unit from the previous model. Charging remains at 80W wired speed, and despite the bigger battery, the phone’s dimensions stay the same at 164.3 x 77.1 x 8.6mm, weighing 228g.
The display setup has not changed. The Z70S Ultra still features a 6.85-inch OLED screen with a 1,216 x 2,688 pixel resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, and full DCI-P3 coverage. It uses a BOE Q9+ panel with 2,592Hz PWM dimming for smoother brightness control. One small update is the move to Gorilla Glass 7i protection instead of the previous Longxi glass.

The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. There is also a special model offering 24GB of RAM for users who want even more memory.
The back of the phone features a nanotextured glass finish that mimics the look of calfskin leather. The Z70S Ultra carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, along with IP69 certification for protection against high-pressure water.
Alongside the phone, nubia has introduced a professional photography kit. This includes a special case that supports a T-mount adapter and a 67mm filter ring, allowing users to attach ND filters or polarizers. The kit also features magnetic attachments, a shoulder strap, and a tripod mount.

Additionally, nubia has collaborated with Fotogear to create external T-mount lenses for the main camera. These include a fisheye lens, a macro lens, a 139mm telephoto lens, and a 400mm super telephoto lens, expanding the phone’s photography options.
