MSI Launches X68K Gaming Keyboard With X-Stellar Magnetic Switches and 8KHz Polling Rate

MSI has officially unveiled the X68K Gaming Keyboard, a new compact model aimed at esports players and enthusiasts looking for high-speed input performance. The keyboard combines Hall effect switch technology with an 8KHz polling rate, giving users access to features that have become increasingly popular in the premium gaming keyboard market.

The MSI X68K adopts a 65% layout, reducing its footprint while keeping commonly used keys within easy reach. The keyboard is built around an all-aluminum chassis featuring an angular X-inspired design. MSI uses electrophoresis and silkscreen printing on the exterior, giving the keyboard a clean finish and improving durability during long-term use.

Lighting is another area where MSI has focused attention. The X68K integrates a continuous RGB light strip around the body and includes bottom-mounted RGB lighting that creates an underglow effect across the desk surface. Users can customize the lighting to match the rest of their gaming setup.

Inside, the keyboard features a horizontal gasket-mounted structure paired with six layers of internal damping material. This design helps reduce vibrations and improves the overall typing feel. MSI has also included a fully hot-swappable PCB, allowing users to replace switches without requiring soldering equipment.

Powering the keyboard are MSI’s X-Stellar magnetic switches. These switches use a third-generation Hall effect sensor and are rated for up to 70 million key presses. The switches feature a 35gf initial actuation force, 50gf bottom-out force, and 3.3mm total key travel distance.

The X68K offers a highly adjustable actuation system, allowing users to customize both the actuation point and dead zone with 0.01mm precision. This level of control helps tailor key response behavior to personal preferences, whether for competitive gaming, fast-paced action titles, or everyday typing.

The keyboard also supports an 8,000Hz polling rate, enabling the device to communicate with the PC up to 8,000 times per second. This reduces input delay and provides faster response times during competitive gaming sessions.
