The MSI DATAMAG LITE is built around a USB4 40Gbps interface, allowing it to reach sequential read speeds of up to 4000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 3600 MB/s. These performance figures place it in the upper range of portable SSDs, making it suitable for handling large files such as high-resolution videos, game libraries, and project backups. The drive is designed for users who regularly move data between systems and need faster transfer times.
The magnetic attachment system adds a practical touch to the overall design. MSI includes a metal ring that lets the SSD snap securely onto compatible devices, helping reduce cable clutter and keeping the drive within easy reach during use. There’s also a hanging ring for those who prefer to carry the drive on a strap or hook, which can be useful when moving between setups or working on the go.
The enclosure uses an aluminium-alloy construction and weighs around 85 grams. This keeps the drive light enough for daily carry while also helping with heat management during sustained workloads. MSI also bundles multiple connectivity options, including short and long USB-C cables and a USB-C to USB-A adapter, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of devices without requiring additional accessories.
The DATAMAG LITE supports Windows and macOS systems, along with smartphones, tablets, cameras, and gaming consoles. This broad compatibility allows users to rely on a single storage device across different platforms, whether for work or personal use.
MSI is also introducing a companion DATAMAG App to go along with the hardware. The app allows users to monitor available storage, as well as back up and restore photos and videos. It is designed to provide a simple way to manage files without depending on third-party software.
Each capacity variant of the DATAMAG LITE comes with a 5-year warranty. MSI has confirmed that the drive will be available soon through authorized retailers in selected regions, although pricing details have not been shared yet.
