MSI AM5 Motherboard Lineup with New B850 and B840 Models Leaked

February 7, 2025

MSI introduced a wide range of AMD B850 and B840 chipset-based motherboards during CES 2025, emphasizing its commitment to expanding options for AM5-based systems. A recently leaked presentation slide, reported by Wccftech, suggests that the company is preparing additional budget-friendly models in the first half of the year. The roadmap indicates an upcoming lineup of motherboards primarily targeting compact form factors within the MPG and Pro Series product ranges. MSI’s Arsenal Gaming (MAG) B850 motherboards appear to have completed their initial rollout as of the first quarter of 2025, aligning with the models unveiled at CES.

According to the leaked information, MSI plans to introduce five new models in the coming months. These include the MPG B850I Edge WIFI (Mini-ITX), PRO B850M-P WIFI (Micro-ATX), PRO B850M-B (Micro-ATX), B850 Gaming PLUS WIFI PZ (ATX), and PRO B850M-A WIFI PZ (Micro-ATX). The MPG B850I Edge WIFI, in particular, will extend MSI’s MPG lineup into the Mini-ITX segment. The company has already released an ATX-sized version, the EDGE TI WIFI, and now aims to offer a smaller alternative for compact system builders.

MSI’s new budget-oriented motherboards are expected to feature updated connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 7 support with a full 320 MHz bandwidth. These models will also maintain compatibility with both AMD’s current Zen 4 processors and the upcoming Zen 5 Ryzen X3D CPUs, ensuring longevity for users planning future upgrades.

The inclusion of multiple micro-ATX options suggests that MSI is focusing on expanding its presence in the mainstream and entry-level market segments. The B850 Gaming PLUS WIFI PZ appears to be the only full-sized ATX model among the upcoming releases, while the other additions cater to users seeking compact and cost-effective alternatives.

MSI has not yet confirmed an official release date for these models, but given the roadmap’s timeline, availability is expected within the first half of 2025. Pricing details remain unknown, though MSI’s Pro Series typically targets affordability while maintaining essential features. More information is likely to surface as the company approaches an official launch, with potential announcements in the coming months.
