Following their initial collaboration in August 2024, peripheral manufacturer MCHOSE and tech content platform Unbox Therapy have announced the launch of their first co-branded mechanical keyboard, the UT98. The new product will debut on Kickstarter starting July 17, 2025.
The collaboration began when Unbox Therapy’s Lewis George Hilsenteger received and reviewed the MCHOSE GX87 keyboard last year. That video, which highlighted the keyboard’s soft and bouncy typing experience, gained over 5 million views across social media platforms. Audience reception was largely positive, with many users praising the feel and responsiveness of the keyboard. However, some viewers noted that the audible keystroke sound could be too loud for quiet environments, such as offices or libraries.

Taking that feedback into account, MCHOSE and Unbox Therapy began working on a new keyboard that could retain the typing experience of the GX87 while addressing concerns about noise. The result is the UT98, designed for users who value both comfort and quieter operation.
The UT98 will offer two types of mechanical switches. The first is the Silent Peach V3, designed for ultra-quiet performance. This option is tailored for users working in shared spaces or environments that demand minimal noise. The second is the Icy Creamsicle, a switch that has already gained popularity among MCHOSE users for its smooth and consistent keypress.

The UT98 also includes features expected in high-end mechanical keyboards. It uses a gasket mount structure to provide a softer, cushioned keystroke. The keyboard supports hot-swappable switches, allowing users to change switches without soldering, and it features full N-Key Rollover for accurate multi-key input. Additional functional touches include an aluminium rotary knob for volume adjustment, with a one-click mute/unmute function, and a calculator shortcut key for Windows users.

In terms of design, the keyboard reflects Unbox Therapy’s branding and aesthetic choices. The keycap legends use the same typeface as the Unbox Therapy logo, resulting in a consistent visual identity. Two color variants will be available: Classic Therapy, which combines black and white for a clean, modern look, and Retro Therapy, featuring the brand’s signature orange to align with its established visual style.
Alongside the keyboard, MCHOSE is releasing matching accessories, including a co-branded wrist rest and mouse pad, both designed to complement the UT98.
The MCHOSE UT98 will launch on Kickstarter on July 17, 2025. Early backers will have access to limited-time offers and bundle deals. More details about pricing and availability will be shared as the campaign goes live.
