KytyPS5 is making rapid progress with PlayStation 5 emulation, and Marvel’s Wolverine is the latest example. The upcoming PC-style emulation test has reportedly pushed the game to peaks of around 20 FPS, although most gameplay remains well below that level.
A 10-second clip shared online shows Wolverine running at roughly 20 FPS through KytyPS5. The result is similar to a longer test conducted by YouTuber Unreal Gaming PC using a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and GeForce RTX 4080. The test reportedly used Senaxx’s September 30 build of the PS5 emulator.
The hardware requirements remain substantial. The test reportedly consumed almost all of the RTX 4080’s 16 GB of VRAM while running Marvel’s Wolverine. More importantly, the reported 20 FPS number represents a peak rather than a sustained frame rate. Most gameplay apparently stays between 6 and 9 FPS, while less demanding scenes can push performance toward 15-20 FPS.
That is still a significant change from earlier results. Reports from the previous day suggested Wolverine was reaching roughly 3-7 FPS, although those tests were performed on different hardware, so the numbers should not be treated as a direct benchmark comparison. The rapid changes between emulator builds are nevertheless becoming increasingly interesting for PS5 emulation.
KytyPS5 has already shown similar progress with other PlayStation 5 games. Last month, Demon’s Souls Remake reportedly moved from around 1-2 FPS to approximately 30 FPS within only a few days. The PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto V has also reportedly reached up to 60 FPS through the emulator under certain conditions.
Marvel’s Wolverine presents a particularly demanding test because the game launched on September 15 and was designed specifically around current-generation PlayStation hardware. Getting the title to run at all through an emulator so soon after release highlights how quickly PS5 emulation is developing.
However, Wolverine is still far from being playable. Single-digit average performance, crashes, graphical problems, and other compatibility issues remain major obstacles. A peak of 20 FPS also does not mean the game can currently deliver a consistent experience from start to finish.
The latest results are still worth watching because emulator performance can change dramatically between builds. If development continues at the current pace, games that are currently limited to a few frames per second could eventually become much more usable. For now, however, Marvel’s Wolverine remains a technical demonstration rather than a practical way to play the PS5 game on PC.
