Lionsgate has announced a new AAA video game based on the John Wick franchise during Sony’s latest State of Play presentation. The project is being developed in partnership with Saber Interactive and is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game does not yet have an official title, but it is positioned as a major single-player action release aimed at mature audiences.
According to the announcement, the game will focus on third-person combat built around the “gun-fu” style that defines the film series. The developers aim to combine close-quarters gunplay, hand-to-hand combat, and cinematic presentation to reflect the tone of the movies. The project is being created as an original story set years before the events of John Wick’s “Impossible Task,” expanding the timeline and exploring new elements of the criminal underworld ruled by the High Table.
Keanu Reeves is directly involved and will reprise his role as John Wick, contributing his likeness and voice to the character. Franchise director Chad Stahelski is also collaborating on the project. Lionsgate stated that Stahelski is working closely with the development team to ensure the action choreography, tone, and world-building remain consistent with the films.

Jenefer Brown, President of Global Products & Experiences at Lionsgate, said the company is collaborating closely with Saber Interactive to capture the action design and atmosphere that fans expect. Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch described the partnership as a joint effort to translate the character and universe into a full-scale AAA gaming experience.
The John Wick franchise has grown significantly since the release of the first film in 2014. Across four theatrical entries, the series has generated more than $1 billion at the global box office. The universe has also expanded into television with The Continental: From the World of John Wick, which debuted on Peacock in 2023. A spin-off film, Ballerina starring Ana de Armas, is also part of the expanding slate, alongside additional projects currently in development.

Saber Interactive brings recent experience with large-scale action titles. The studio developed Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which launched in 2024 and achieved strong commercial performance. The company has also worked on licensed properties such as World War Z and is currently developing several other projects tied to established entertainment franchises.
While gameplay footage has only been briefly shown in the reveal trailer, early details suggest a focus on intense firefights, cinematic camera work, and a narrative-driven campaign. The developers have also hinted at driving sequences and a range of global locations that align with the tone of the films.

The untitled John Wick game is now available to wishlist on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC storefronts. Lionsgate and Saber Interactive have not yet announced a release window. Further updates are expected as development progresses.
