Deck Nine Games has officially announced Life is Strange: Reunion, a new adventure game set in the Life is Strange universe and published by Square Enix. The reveal follows a teaser shared last week and confirms the game as the final chapter in the story of Max Caulfield and Chloe Price, the characters introduced in the original Life is Strange.
According to the press release, Reunion brings Max and Chloe together again in a way few fans expected after the events of earlier titles. For story-related reasons, Deck Nine has avoided detailing how their paths cross once more, but the developer describes the game as an emotional conclusion to their long-running narrative.
The story returns players to Caledon University, previously featured in 2024’s Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Max Caulfield is now working there as a photography teacher. After returning from a short trip, she finds the campus consumed by a massive fire that kills students, staff, and people close to her. Max survives only by using her Rewind ability, sending herself back in time through a selfie. With just three days before the disaster occurs, she must uncover how the fire began and find a way to stop it.
Chloe Price arrives at Caledon shortly after, an event described as a side effect of Max’s timeline merge at the end of Double Exposure. Chloe is affected by memories and nightmares from a past she never experienced, leaving her increasingly disconnected from reality. Her return places Max and Chloe back together as they try to understand the consequences of altering time.

A major change in Reunion is its playable structure. For the first time in the series, players can control both Max and Chloe, switching between their perspectives as the story unfolds. Max’s Rewind power allows players to revisit decisions, reshape conversations, and solve time-based puzzles. Chloe brings her Backtalk ability, letting her pressure suspects, navigate confrontations, and access areas that Max cannot.
Deck Nine Games says the focus remains on player choice and character-driven storytelling. Decisions made throughout the game will affect how events play out, leading to a final act designed to close the Max and Chloe storyline.
