Kubb has turned a compact fanless mini PC into an extremely expensive custom machine after building a special version with a 24K pure gold chassis. The customized Kubb Fanless reportedly weighs around 13 kilograms and is priced at approximately $1.7 million, making it one of the most unusual mini PCs to surface.
The system was reportedly customized for a client in Fuli Taobai, although Kubb has not revealed the buyer’s identity or the exact hardware configuration selected for the machine. The most obvious change is the enclosure, which replaces the regular chassis with one made from pure gold.
There is also a technical reason that can be attached to the material choice. Pure gold has higher thermal conductivity than aluminum, with the claimed difference reaching around 30% to 50%. That could help move heat away from the components in a fanless design, although using 24K gold for a computer chassis is obviously far beyond what would be required for normal cooling.
The Kubb Fanless can be configured with several modern processors, including Intel’s Core Ultra 5 225H, Core Ultra 5 358H, and AMD’s Ryzen AI 5 340. The system supports up to 128GB of DDR5 memory and includes a 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD as standard.
However, it remains unknown which processor and memory configuration were used in the gold version. The lack of information about the buyer also makes it difficult to determine whether the system was built for actual daily use, a private collection, or simply as a highly customized luxury computer.
At around $1.7 million, the majority of the machine’s value clearly comes from its gold construction rather than its computing hardware. A 13-kilogram 24K gold enclosure is also a major departure from the lightweight aluminum chassis normally used by compact PCs.
For a conventional buyer, the Kubb Fanless remains a compact, silent PC with Intel and AMD processor options. This particular gold version, however, takes the platform into the luxury market, where the material used to build the computer matters far more than the performance offered by its processor.
