Kiwi Ears Launches Altruva Headphones with 50mm Driver and Open-Back Design at $69.99

Kiwi Ears has introduced a new pair of over-ear headphones aimed at music enthusiasts who value detailed sound and build quality. Called the Altruva, the new model combines a large 50mm dynamic driver, open-back architecture, and premium materials—all offered at a competitive price point of $69.99.

The Altruva features a custom-developed 50mm dynamic driver designed with upgraded neodymium magnets and a reinforced diaphragm. Kiwi Ears has used a PU and PEK composite material for the diaphragm, paired with an ultra-pure copper ring to enhance driver stability. This construction is aimed at delivering clear and detailed sound throughout the frequency range, with special attention to the mids and highs.

The headphones feature an open-back enclosure, which allows air and sound to pass more freely through the earcups. This design helps create a more spacious and realistic soundstage. While open-back headphones are typically associated with higher-end models, Kiwi Ears brings this approach to a more accessible price range with the Altruva.

In terms of sound tuning, Kiwi Ears positions the Altruva as delivering a neutral and balanced presentation. The bass response is described as controlled and fast, providing depth without overshadowing the rest of the audio spectrum. The mids are said to retain natural tonality, which helps with accurate playback of instruments and vocals. Treble extension reaches up to 40 kHz, aiming to deliver openness and clarity without becoming sharp or fatiguing.

The Altruva is constructed using a mix of PVD-coated steel, wood elements, and vegan leather, combining durability with comfort. The headband and ear pads are designed to provide long-term wearability, and the overall construction reflects a focus on both acoustic and physical quality.

The included cable measures three meters in length and terminates in a standard 3.5mm plug. A 6.3mm adaptor is also provided in the box for use with professional audio equipment.

Specifications for the Kiwi Ears Altruva include:

  • Driver Unit: 50mm Dynamic Driver
  • Impedance: 32 Ohms
  • Sensitivity: 98dB ±3dB
  • Frequency Response: 20 Hz – 40 kHz
  • Cable Length: 3 meters
  • Connector: 3.5mm plug with 6.3mm adaptor

Priced at $69.99, the Kiwi Ears Altruva enters a competitive segment, targeting listeners who seek studio-style tuning and build refinement without a high price tag. The headphones are now available through authorized retailers and the brand’s official channels.
